The first dog of this breed registered with the AKC was Queen of Switzerland, registered in 1908. Only the best representatives of the breed were chosen for breeding. The pups had to be rather strong, healthy, have good character, be neither aggressive nor shy. To grow a dog that will be a real GSD is not easy. You need to have a strong character, as these dogs tend to be dominating and may not obey, if you cannot show who the boss is. The dog needs a good discipline since early age. The german shepherd ears should be alert when in a training session, dogs from rputable kennels correspond to the breed standard.
