These dogs are rather long-lived compared to other large breeds. Their average lifespan is more than 13 years. Puppies are slow to mature and may take up to 4 years to develop physically and mentally. Adult dogs measure from 22 to 26 inches at the shoulders and weigh from 77 to 85 pounds. High quality dogs of this breed should be dignified, fit, nimble and full of life. They should give the impression of power, balance and alertness.
